Tabernacle (Mishkan) Calculator - Ver 1.09

Warning

This calculator uses simplified model of the Mishkan and its parts (i.e. the Crown of the Ark of The Covenant is calculated as a simple rectangular frame, instead of an actual Crown-like Border of an elaborate design). However, this calculator will give you a fairly accurate estimate of all parts and the weight of the Mishkan. You are highly advised to re-check results yourself, if you plan on using these results in your study.

Please also remember, that this calculator has very limited error-checking capabilities, so it is your responsibility to enter proper values and use correct system of units.

If you happen to stumble upon any mistakes in calculations, please let me know so I can correct it.

There are still some inconsistencies with the chosen values for the Altar of Burnt Offering, The Laver and the Fabrics of the Mishkan - I'm still working on it (i.e weight of the copper for the Altar, Grate, Laver e.t.c)

Instructions and Notes

The most justifiable and reasonable values for all the parts of the Mishkan had been pre-filled. All you have to do, is to press on any "Calculate" button under any of the sections of the calculator, to get result.

The "Calculate" and "Reset" buttons under every section do the same thing and calculate the entire table: they are simply there for your convenience, so that you do not have to scroll all the way down to the page every time.

If you want to change any of the values, you can do so by simply replacing the numbers in the pre-filled fields of the calculator with your own. After you done, press any of the "Calculate" buttons again.

Use "Reset" button under any of the sections of the calculator, to clear calculated values and/or to return the pre-filled values to their default state.

NOTE: Some pre-filled values of the calculator cannot be changed because they are explicitly stated in the Pentateuch (i.e. length of the Ark). Some of the boxes also do not affect the calculated result, as they are for reference use only (i.e. number of Rings or Staves of the artefacts, e.t.c) 

On the bottom of the page you can find "Change Log", that I will try to keep updated as I fine-tune the calculator.

08/15/2010	1.09	Major Change - Moved Copper Laver calculations from "Altar of Burnt Offering" section into the "Service Utensils" section of the calculator. This is due to the facts, that total weight of the Altar of Burnt Offering with the Laver would have been too great to carry, therefore the Laver had to be carried with other artefacts of the Mishkan (i.e Service Utensils). Corrected minor mistakes in calculations.
08/16/2010	1.09	Added calculated weight (in Shekels) for each of the Service Utensils. This allows to calculate the weight of each utensil with absolute precision, as well as to match the weight of the Utensils to the specifications in the text. Corrected some minor errors in the description of some of the fields of the calculator.
08/20/2010	1.09	Added "Misc. Weights Totals and Analysis" section. For now, you can compare only the weight of the Copper Stakes(Pins) of the Tabernacle, so that you can precisely calculate their weight and dimensions. Later, I will add other things here as well.
